Arts Council for Wales – The Arts Matter
An animated campaign developed for English and Welsh speakers.

Explainer video animation
Savage and Gray Design have a vast amount of experience in helping arts organisations, be it graphic design, web development or animation. Many of these who are supported by the Arts Council of Wales, from the largest venues such as the Wales Millennium Centre, to smaller arts centres like The Welfare Arts Centre in Ystradgynlais, and arts events such as The Hay Festival and Cowbridge Music Festival.
As a result of working closely with such organisations we feel we have an empathy and insight into the breadth of arts activities across South Wales, and an understanding of a need for, and the benefits of the arts throughout the country. We were therefore thrilled to be invited by the Arts Council to produce a series of animations to convey the benefits of the arts in Wales.
Savage and Gray suggested producing vibrant, emotive animations, to raise the value, profile and appreciation of the arts in Wales to key decision makers and the general public. We wanted to put an emphasis on the relationship of the arts and people, in regards to participation, impact on the community, to the country and to the World. The theme of ‘The Arts Matter’ needed to be clearly delivered, with the messages of access, health benefits and economic benefits at the forefront.
We intended to make the campaign ‘people focused’, wanting the animations to reflect, and therefore connect with the viewer.
We think the final trailer animation for the series is all of the above. Keep an eye out for our next Arts Council of Wales animation in the coming months.
